Start with a completely unlaced shoe. Instead of starting on the bottom like in most lacing styles, start from the top. This one is easy to do: just lace it like normal, starting at the top, except SKIP A HOLE EACH TIME. Once you get as far as you can, you'll notice that there's one more set of holes, and you just went through the holes behind them, so you can't go any farther while skipping holes.
