Hannah Wells strums her guitar wearing black high top chucks.
Off Campus is an Amazon Prime romantic dramedy series based on the Off-Campus book series by Elle Kennedy. The series stars the ensemble cast of Ella Bright, Belmont Cameli, Mika Abdalla, Stephen Kalyn, Antonio Cipriano, Jalen Thomas Brooks, and Josh Heuston. Ahead of its Season One premiere on May 13th, 2026, the series was renewed for a second season.

Hannah and Garrett struggle with their past traumas, straining their relationship.
At the fictional Briar University, Hannah Wells (Bright) is a music major studying Classical Composition. However, she learns that her scholarship is being revoked due to budget cuts, and if she doesn’t pay for the next semester out of pocket, she’ll have to drop out. Her only hope of coming up with that kind of cash is to win the Pop Showcase Talent Show, but to do that, she’ll have to write and perform an original pop song, something she hasn’t done since high school. Despite her hesitation and doubt, Hannah is encouraged by her roommate and best friend Allie Hayes (Abdalla) to try anyway. This seems odd at first, as Hannah is a bright, seemingly outgoing person who wears chucks and truly loves music. She seems like your typical college music major, so her reluctance and PTSD when it comes to writing lyrics are perplexing. The series starts teasing out her mysterious trauma through quick flashbacks that eventually get longer and provide more context until she finally confesses her truth to someone she truly trusts.

Hannah is a music major struggling to pay tuition.
Garrett Graham (Cameli) is the school’s star hockey player and captain of the Briar Hawks. The son of former NHL player Phil Graham, Garrett has already been drafted by the Boston Bruins and is already being called a future great. His hockey and social lives couldn’t be going better right now, as he lives with his teammates Dean Di Laurentis (Kalyn), John Logan (Cipriano), and John Tucker (Brooks) while having a string of hookups. Not everything is going great for Garrett, though, as he’s struggling in school right now despite wanting to succeed, especially in the philosophy class he shares with Hannah. In exchange for her tutoring him, they agree to a “fake romantic relationship” so that Hannah can catch the attention of her musician crush, Justin Kohl (Heuston). However, as they spend more time together, Hannah and Garrett's relationship begins to develop into an actual romance. Will these two find something safe and real in each other, or will their different worlds separate for good?

Mika Abdalla is a scene stealer as Hannah’s roommate Allie.
This is one of the better romantic dramedy pieces of media we’ve gotten in recent memory. The fake relationship plotline has been done a lot in the romantic dramedy genre, with the most recent famous example being To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, but here it’s arguably done the best because it does not overstay its welcome. The will they/won’t they of the fake relationship only lasts for about half of the season, which means that we get to see development of these characters past that framework, allowing them to tackle much bigger issues. The chemistry of Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli is off the charts, and it engrosses you in the story of Hannah and Garrett. Mika Abdalla is a future superstar and shines on the screen, and the Briar Hawks offer some great comedy throughout. This is a gem you should definitely check out!

It wouldn’t be a romantic dramedy without some drama.
