There are two different types of DJs in the world. One is usually found at popular clubs playing things that resemble singing robots along with lengthy remixes of popular tunes. The other usually makes an appearance at weddings and birthday parties and plays the regular versions of regular songs. Most people favor the latter. Why is this important? Because DJ number two is more likely to play LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”. Released in 2011, it has become one of those songs that earned a permanent place on the wedding DJ’s playlist (right next to “The Cha-cha Slide”). Luckily, this is a good thing.
A “dance zombie” party rocking in chucks!
So it’s been established that the song has earned a place forever in our musical hearts, but so has the music video. Fans of The Walking Dead and 28 Days Later will immediately connect the start of the video to the start of the show and movie. Both of which begin with the protagonist waking up from a coma to find that the world has succumbed to an apocalypse. Though instead of zombies, people addicted to dancing have taken over.

As the two person band walks out onto the streets for the first time, a man pulls them to the side and frantically tells them what has happened then gives them both a pair of headphones to block out the music which, in this video, is equivalent to that of a zombie bite. But as the video progresses, LMFAO decides that instead of blending in, they would let themselves be taken over by dance. There’s no surprise there, however, seeing as the song that has taken people over is their own. The climax comes when all the actors come together to thriller-esque dance number—one that has inspired countless “how-to” videos on YouTube.

This is truly a unique and fun video to watch, and not just for the flash mob style dancing. Everyone is dressed in outrageously bright, colorful clothes, and more specifically, a great number of the “dance zombies” are wearing chucks. If you haven’t already seen it then it’s crucial that you do so ASAP!
