If you grew up in the late 1990s or 2000s there is one important question you’ll have to answer at least once in your life: Were you a Disney Channel kid or a Nickelodeon kid? In this age, every kid was targeted by the two giants in children's entertainment and kids naturally gravitated towards one or another. It could be because of the shows or the stars but for one reason or another, you were either a Disney Channel or Nick kid. Miranda Cosgrove was one of Nick’s biggest stars from her time on shows like Drake & Josh and iCarly, but she also had a short-lived singing career as every child TV star did at this time. “About You Know” is the lead single from her debut EP of the same name.

Most of the pre-teen stars that came out at this time from both Disney and Nick fell into one of two categories when it came to music: pop or pop-punk. You were either singing pop bops or rocking out in chucks with a backing band. Here, Miranda Cosgrove falls into the latter. “About You Now" is a cover of the song of the same name by British girl group Sugababes with a pop-punk flavoring. The chorus has heavy guitars and it is entirely indicative of the genre at this time.

The music video premiered on Nickelodeon on December 5, 2008, following the premiere of Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh. In the video, Miranda is at the go-to teen star music video setting: the mall. She and her friends are having a great time when they spot her ex-boyfriend. They keep shopping, stopping to look at a necklace. They then go to a photo booth to take pictures, but the pictures remind Miranda about her breakup with her ex-boyfriend, wherein she mistakenly accused him of cheating on her. They then go on an escalator and Miranda spots her ex again. She texts him that she got it all wrong with him and he finds her, gifting her the necklace that she saw at the beginning of the video. They get back together and all well that ends well. All of these scenes are intercut with Cosgrove performing the song with her band while wearing black and white chucks. This video is exactly like most of the videos that came from other teen stars at the time. They all have the same vibe of safe storylines and visuals and end up being completely harmless.
