Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine was a Canadian pop music duo that consisted of songwriter and producer Elijah Woods and singer-songwriter Jamie Fine. The duo were the winning contestants on the first season of the Canadian reality music competition, The Launch. They then released the single “Ain’t Easy”, which became certified Double Platinum by Music Canada and topped the national adult contemporary airplay chart. They easily became the best-selling artists of the show, experiencing three subsequent gold-certified singles and receiving several awards and nominations, including Best New Canadian Artist or Group at the 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs. However, despite all this success, the pair went their separate ways in 2020 to explore singles careers. “Sunlight!” is the latest single from Elijah Woods which debuted on September 6th, 2024.

The song is about someone breaking free from a toxic relationship. Woods sings about how he only knows a “me with you” and how he has to break free from the darkness. He yearns to break into the freedom of sunlight to start a new life. It may or may not go well, but it is “sink or swim” time and he has to take the leap into the shining light.

The music video opens on a garage door that has been painted with the word “Sunlight!” in golden yellow paint. The camera rises up above the garage to the antenna tower on the roof where Elijah Woods is scaling it in his black high top chucks. We then get shots of him driving an ATV and using a chainsaw, along with some moments of him driving a blue truck and singing the song with his friends. All the while, we get more looks of Woods climbing higher and higher up the tower, and at certain points, he even goes one-handed. The themes of this video appear to be freedom and taking a chance on dangerous things you may not know the outcome of, which fits in well with the lyrics of the song urging you to step into the sunlight even when it is scary. The themes of freedom and stepping into the unknown are also conveyed with the wardrobe choice of a white tank, ripped jeans, and black high top chucks.
