It’s unfortunate, but today’s society values a very high, very unrealistic standard of beauty. While guys can certainly have a tough time with it, it impacts girls the most. They’re expected to dress a certain way, act a certain way, and weigh a certain amount. Thankfully, both men and women alike are standing up and saying “no” to these unfair expectations. One of these “love yourself” advocates is Meghan Trainor, a sassy singer from Massachusetts and her single “All About That Bass” is essentially an anthem for positive body image.

Full of pretty pastel colors and cute outfits that actually leave something to the imagination, the video is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. But it’s not just the way that all the dancer’s white chucks match the pinks and blues that’s captivating, but the quirky characters. You’ve got your curvy girls confidently strutting their stuff, your heavy set man who happens to be an excellent dancer, and, of course, your super skinny, stereotypical “plastic” supermodel type (who is literally covered in plastic).

There’s really not much of a plot, but honestly, “All About That Bass” is so well done that it doesn’t need one. Don’t let all the pink fool you, it’s empowering to both women and men and no matter what your confidence level, this video will leave you with a major ego boost. So take a break from The ChucksConnection (you can come back later, don’t worry!) so you can go watch Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass”. And don’t forget: you’re all beautiful in your own ways…especially in chucks!
