Everyone growing up in the 2000s had their favorite live-action teen shows. There are so many classics from that era, starting with Zoey 101 to Victorious to Ned’s Declassified. Many of the leads from these shows became stars and staples of an entire generation’s childhood. Miranda Cosgrove was one of Nick’s fastest-rising stars from her time on one of the network’s biggest shows, Drake & Josh. As the scene-stealing Megan, it was only a matter of time before Nick gave her her own show. That time came with the premiere of iCarly on September 8th, 2007. The show’s theme song, “Leave It All to Me” became Cosgrove’s biggest hit and is to this day an instantly recognizable track.
Miranda Cosgrove performs this song with Drake & Josh co-star Drake Bell.
This song was very important in jumpstarting Cosgrove’s career. Coming off of Drake & Josh, everyone was anticipating her having her own show and the music video/intro with this song was going to be the first thing people saw. Immediately, fans knew that an all-time classic was on their hands. There’s just no explaining how this song is a bop because honestly, you had to be there. If you were there, you know this song hits and that you could play it in a room of twenty-somethings and they’d lose their minds.
The cast of iCarly joins the video.
The music video is longer than the show’s intro because it uses the whole song. It does keep the aesthetic of the show’s intro, mimicking the fictional iCarly website. After Freddie’s countdown, we are taken into a video playing on the site. The four main actors from the show, Miranda, Jennette McCurdy, Jerry Trainor, and Nathan Kress, are all in the video dancing and playing instruments. Both Cosgrove and Trainor wear chucks in the video, much like they would on the show. Drake Bell also shows up since he does featured backing vocals on the track. It is a fun video that really is a time capsule for the mid-2000s Nick when the video would play constantly. It is also incredible to see the cast so young before they became some of the network’s biggest stars.
Miranda wears black high top chucks in the video much like she did on the show.
