Mumford & Sons are an English folk rock band that consists of Marcus Mumford (lead vocals, guitar, drums), Ted Dwane (vocals, bass), and Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards). The band is known for their hit song “I Will Wait” as well as being the faces of early 2010s hipster music, which may be a little unfair to the group. It wasn’t their fault hipsters were annoying about their music, and they did a lot to keep folk music in the mainstream during the decade. Hozier is an Irish rock musician who has been one of the best voices in music for well over a decade. His bluesy vocals often soar with his powerful lyrics, and when he puts out music, people gravitate. Together, these two acts have released a new song, “Rubber Band Man”, which is the first single of Mumford & Sons upcoming sixth studio album.

Hozier wears white chucks to match the white background in this video.
For many fans, these two acts together are considered a dream collaboration. Their styles in theory should mesh beautifully, and thankfully, they do on this track. This is a song about resilience and trying to get back to someone you love, whether that’s through a breakup. In the second verse, Hozier says that rather than hold onto yourself like mortar and stone, “be a rubber band man”. The vocals from Marcus Muford and Hozier, are expectedly fantastic, and the two harmonize so well that it almost feels like they have always performed together.

Some backing musicians are off to the sides and the black floors add contrast.
This video is a live performance from the iconic Graham Norton Show in the UK. Graham throws to the performance where Mumford & Sons and Hozier are standing in front of an all white background that totally surrounds them. Fittingly, Hozier is wearing white chucks that nearly blend into the white floor, but the rest of the wardrobe is black to contrast the background. The performance has an ethereal vibe when you combine the background with Marcus Mumford and Hozier’s vocals. It’s perfect for the track and shows why these two acts always crush their live performances, even when keeping it simple.

The white background is really striking in this video.
