Audrey Hobert is an American singer-songwriter known for co-writing several songs with Gracie Abrams for Abrams’ album The Secret of Us (2024). After the success of those songs, Hobert released her debut single, “Sue Me”, in 2025. The track was the first single for her debut album, Who’s the Clown?, and it went on to peak at #64 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In this song, Audrey wrestles with yearning to be desired so badly that she is willing to entertain the idea of getting back with her ex. Cleverly, she hypes up this ex, but all of her boasts are just describing the most mid man to ever exist. This hammers home the chorus of the song, which is that what Audrey really wants is to be wanted, and to get it she’s even willing to settle for someone who doesn’t deserve it. This feeling is instantly relatable, as many feel this way when they’re single, and the idea of just settling is tempting.

The music video was directed and edited by Hobert herself, which is something she has said she intends to do for all of her own projects. Previously, Hobert has directed the infamous video for Gracie Abrams’ “I Love You, I'm Sorry”, which becomes evident very quickly here. Hobert has a thing for doing way too much and being overly expressive for music that does not match that energy. The video starts with Hobert dancing in her room, and she’s going at an eleven for a song that is just nowhere near that level. It just leaves this cringey feeling for the viewer when they see it. Eventually, she is joined by her co-writer Ricky Gourmet, who is wearing black high top chucks and giving energy that matches the song. A clown sits in the corner ignoring them, and Hobert keeps dancing for the rest of the video. Fans of Hobert and her music will find ways to explain that the video is satire or campy on purpose, but having a video that matches the vibe, tone, and message of the music it’s paired with is critical to what makes a “good video”.
